Qualities of a good relationship II

We talked about love and trust in the previous article and saw the impact they have. As much the world has been modernized, these principles still need to be followed. The world is that much better with love. Let’s talk about communication and spending time together.

Communication

A good relationship should have open channels of communication. It makes no sense when one partner has locked out any input from the other partner. Honest communication is key to survival of any relationship. It is possible TO TALK ABOUT HOW YOU FEEL WITHOUT HURTING YOUR PARTNER and your partner should listen to you without judging you or dismissing you.

Sometimes, one strong personality can take over and express their feelings to a point where the other partner has no words. There should a way to talk to each other without hurting each other. Communication builds a strong connection between two people and enables you understand each other. If you just communicate for the sake of getting things done, then that’s all you will ever achieve in your relationship; get by. If you communicate truly and honestly, like really communicate, things will be super exciting!

A healthy relationship is when two people can voice their opinions and still respect each other afterwards. The love should become stronger after communicating.

You like spending time together

A good relationship is when a couple love being around each other. If you feel lonely watching a movie alone, going to bed alone while your partner does something else, not having heard from him/her for hours, after being unable to resolve a conflict and so on, then you are in a healthy relationship.

You might be with someone who is a sanguine or melancholic but you still enjoy their company; it is a good, good sign. You might be with a reserved partner who doesn’t talk as much but you still love their presence; that’s a wonderful sign. You might be with a vocal partner who loves having conversation and you don’t but you still enjoy their company. Your partner’s presence makes you feel at home; just their mere presence. Enjoying each other’s company does not necessarily mean traveling the world together or playing a game together. Don’t get me wrong, these are two brilliant ways to spend time but what I mean is that you have to spare time to listen to your partner or to be there for them.

Don’t immerse yourself in your job/work to a point where you don’t know how your lover spent their day. Spare time, just TIME, to know how your partner is doing. If you find time to be with your significant other, then you are in a healthy relationship. If not, it’s never too late. You can turn things around; and quickly! Just start by asking your partner how his/her day has been. The good thing about this quality is that it is among the easiest to change. Drop what you are doing even for an hour and look into your partner’s eyes and know how he/she is. It won’t cost you anything!
